Per performance positions are paid on an hourly basis, are not eligible for the Employees Benefits Program and do not require City residency.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for managing the operations and marketing of a historic public market owned and operated by the City of St. Louis. Duties include: assigning duties and responsibilities to subordinate staff; supervising the work of subordinate staff and a large group of vendors within the market; serving as customer liaison to visitors of the market and resolving problems with vendors or customers as needed; inspecting goods and services sold at market; monitoring market for safety and security; and enforcing market rules and regulations. Incumbents are responsible for ensuring that all vendors have necessary licensure/permits and comply with Operating Rules for the Market as well as Health Division regulations; collecting and recording rental fees from vendors; and performing other duties as assigned. The usual work schedule is approximately 25 hours per week with varying days and times. Soulard Market is open Tuesday through Saturday, with no evening hours.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field; plus three years experience in building management and public relations or marketing. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
