Arnold Mitchell Receives Raymond Daly Award

The award was established to honor outstanding employees who go above and beyond the call of duty.

 In a brief ceremony last month, Mr. Arnold Mitchell of the Building Division's Board Up program was presented with the City of St. Louis Building Division Raymond Daly Performance Excellence Award.  Mr. Mitchell began his career with the City in 2006 and is currently a Labor Foreman I.  In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Mitchell shared the award with his crew, thanking them for their support.

Participants in the ceremony included Building Commissioner Frank Oswald, Mrs. Barbara Daly, Daly's daughters, Jennifer Butler and Laura Atkins, Collector of Revenue Gregory F.X. Daly, Gerre Daly Kramer, and Estelle Daly.

Hired in July of 1967, Ray Daly handled administrative work for the Building Division preparing the annual budget and dealing with personnel matters.  He also organized a comprehensive set of employee work rules.  He was known for his honesty, caring, and going the extra mile.  He was 60 years old when he died in 1998, of complications from cancer.  The Award in his name was established in 1999 to recognize Building Division employees for outstanding job performance and for going above and beyond the call of duty.  

Mr. Mitchell is the seventh person to receive this award.
