Portrait of Mayor Francis G. Slay 2010Mayor Francis G. Slay and County Executive Charlie Dooley will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs of the Celebrity Waitresses' & Waiters' Night being held at Cardwell's and Canyon Café restaurants at Plaza Frontenac, on Thursday, August 18th. Honorary Corporate Chair will be David Kowach of Wells Fargo. The event held annually benefits the St. Louis Crisis Nursery, one of the leading child abuse prevention agencies that served over 7,200 children last year.

The event first began in 1990 and has attracted scores of local celebrities and guests who look forward to returning year after year. The celebrity waiters have tremendous fun coaxing hefty tips from diners that all go to benefit local children at increased risk of abuse and neglect. Last year, more than 800 guests attended and helped raise more than $75,000.

A total of 95 celebrity waiters will participate this year including Larry Conners and Robin Smith of KMOV-TV, Heidi Glaus of KSDK-TV, Police Chief Dan Isom, Fredbird, Rams Cheerleaders and Bill Siedhoff, Director of the city's Department of Human Services.

For more information on the event, contact the St. Louis Crisis Nursery at (314) 292-5770.
