ST. LOUIS PUBLIC LIBRARY HOST ITS FIRST-EVER COMIC  CON THIS SATURDAY

 

The St. Louis Public Library is proud to host its first-ever Comic Con on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.  The event takes place at Central Library, 1301 Olive St., and is FREE and open to the public.

The day-long, all-ages event boasts four workshops, two keynote addresses, and LIVE music.  In addition, more than twenty vendors with comics and collectibles available for purchase will be on-hand.

Plus, Cosplay is featured, which encourages family-friendly costumes and provides photo ops with the 501st Legion (Star Wars), Comic Crafts for all ages, and Superhero Power Lunches and Snacks are available for purchase courtesy of Urban Eats Café Central.

10:30-11:30 a.m.

Workshop 1—Drawing

Lion Forge Comics presents Digital Drawing.

11-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-1 p.m.

Googolplexia

Goofy/nerdy songs played on banjo, ukulele, accordion, and trombone kazoo (and sometimes no instruments at all).

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Keynote 1—Dan Yezbick

"Around the World in 50 Panels: A Global Survey of the Best Comics on Earth!"

1-2 p.m.

Keynote 2—Comics: "Working on Your Childhood Dream!"

Comic creator Robert Atkins discusses how comics are really made.

2-2:30 p.m.

Workshop 2—Kickstarter

Mike McCubbins and Ray Nadine explain how to get funding for your project.

2:30-3:30 p.m.

Workshop 3—Writing Comics

Lion Forge presents "Beyond BAM! POW! ZAP!"

3-4 p.m.

Workshop 4—Kids Creating Comics

Chris Sagovac illustrates how to create a mini-comic.
