Mayor Francis G. Slay presents a proclamation to Dale Ruthsatz in honor of his 50 years of City Development

Dale Ruthsatz, Deputy Executive Director for St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), celebrated 50 years of dedication to the economic development of the City of St. Louis -- that's 104,000 hours! -- with no plans in sight for retirement!  SLDC honored him with a breakfast reception attended by his family, SLDC staff and Mayor Francis G. Slay.

During his remarks, Dale told his staff and co-workers that he enjoys his job too much to even think about leaving.  He added that he has especially enjoyed working with SLDC Executive Director Otis Williams and the Board of Aldermen over the years.

Dale holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from Washington University.  His first job with the City began in 1965 with the City Planning Commission.  His career grew when he became Chief of Urban Design for the Planning Commission in 1968, then Deputy Director of City Planning in 1972.  In 1975, he once again moved into leadership as Deputy Director of Planning & Programming for the Community Development Agency (CDA).  Four years later, he was promoted to Director of Planning for the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) and in 1988, became the Planning Manager for the Economic Development Corporation, which later was re-named SLDC.  In 1990, he was named Deputy Executive Director for Commercial Development, the position he currently holds.

Dale is a member of several professional organizations, including the Missouri Economic Development Financing Association, the American Institute of Architects, The Rotary Club of St. Louis, and the Urban Land Institute.

Congratulations Dale, and we wish you continued success!
