MODOT to start construction project on Reavis Barracks at I-55

The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, N.B. West, will start work  rehabilitating the Reavis Barracks Bridge over Interstate 55 in South St. Louis County in early April.

The rehabilitation is part of an overall project to resurface I-55 from Lindbergh to 4500 Broadway.

Crews will start work on I-55 at Reavis to construct temporary widening on the interstate shoulders. Crews will close up to two lanes on northbound I-55 daily from 9 a.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, with three lanes closed between midnight and 5 a.m. Crews will close up to two lanes on southbound I-55 daily from 6 p.m. to 3 p.m. the following day, with three lanes closed between midnight and 5 a.m.

In addition crews will close one lane of Reavis Barracks in both directions under I-55 from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights to replace and update sidewalks and ramps.

On April 11, weather permitting, crews will start shifting traffic to the outside lanes of the interstate so they can begin working on the Reavis Barracks Bridge. Crews will close up to two left lanes in each direction overnight to restripe and place barrier wall along the interstate. On April 12, drivers will have one lane closed around the clock on I-55 at Reavis Barracks. Drivers will have three I-55 lanes open northbound and southbound.

As the project continues, crews will shift traffic across the bridge to continue the renovations. More details on that project will be released when they are determined.

Crews will also start the I-55 resurfacing in late June. More details on the resurfacing will be released closer to the start date.
