ST. LOUIS PUBLIC LIBRARY'S NOT SO QUIET! CONCERT SERIES WELCOMES BLUEGRASS BAND RIVER KITTENS
The St. Louis Public Library's popular NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series is proud to host River Kittens for the May concert. The show will take place at 7 p.m. on May 19 in Central Library's Auditorium. Doors open 6:30 p.m.
With tones reminiscent of Alison Krauss,Rhonda Vincent and the great Kitty Wells,River Kittens is made up of the pitch-perfect bluegrass harmonies of Allie Vogler, Martha Mehring and Mattie Schell, as well as the bass stylings of Nate Gilberg and drumming expertise of Wallace McCanless.
Despite their traditional sound, the River Kittens' storytelling is as dark, wonderful and unexpected as a lonely freight train's whistle at midnight as they sing joyfully about desperation and misery, the kind of stories heard around trash can fires and broken motors, as told by men with cigarettes dangling from their mouths.
The concert is open to all-ages and is part of the ninth season of the NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series, which presents exceptional FREE LIVE music every third Thursday in Central Library's Auditorium.
