The St. Louis Public Library is proud to present a pair of authors especially for kids and teens in April: Antony John and Patricia McKissack. Both events are FREE and open to the public.

  • Antony John discusses and signs his new book, Thou Shalt Not Road Trip. The event takes place at the Schlafly Branch, 225 N. Euclid Ave., on April 12 at 7 p.m. The program is part of Read St. Louis, a community-wide reading initiative developed by the St. Louis Public Library and St. Louis County Library to encourage St. Louisans to read and discuss books. Visit readstlouis.org to learn more.

Told with John's signature wit and authenticity, and featuring characters that jump off the page and into your heart, Road Trip is a spiritual awakening and rocking road trip in one.

Antony John lives in St. Louis with his family. Writing by night, he spends his days as a stay-at-home dad—the only job that allows him to wear his favorite sweatpants all the time.

McKissack has won Coretta Scott King Awards and Honors, a Newbery Honor, and the NAACP Image and Virginia Hamilton Literary Awards. In January her picture book, Never Forgotten, earned a Coretta Scott King Author Honor. Her newest book, Best Shot in the West, is a graphic novel about the most famous African-American cowboy, Nat Love.
