If you've been a victim of a violent crime involving bodily harm, you may be eligible to receive compensation for loss of income, support, funeral expenses, and reasonable medical, drug, and counseling expenses up to $25,000.

Each year only a few hundred residents file claims with the Missouri Department of Public Safety, representing a small percent of those who are victimized in the City of St. Louis. The Victims' Compensation Program was established to support victims following a violent incident and is paid for by court fees on felony and misdemeanor cases in the City of St. Louis.

If you have sustained physical or psychological injury as a result of a violent crime, there is support for paying for reasonable medical and counseling expenses as well as lost wages if the you were gainfully employed on the crime date. If the victim was killed during a crime, there is support for the victim's family members by assisting with the cost of funeral and burial expenses. Counseling expenses can also be considered for family members residing with the victim at the time of the crime or who witnessed the crime. Dependent family members can also receive loss of support if the victim was gainfully employed on the crime date.
