City Officials Receive Legacy Awards from Shalom House

Addressing the Needs of the Homeless

Mayor Francis G. Slay along with Bill Siedhoff, Director of the Department of Human Services, and Antoinette Triplett, Manager of the Homeless Services Division, were presented 2013 Legacy Awards from Shalom House at their annual dinner held on October 3, 2013, at the Renaissance Hotel.  The awards were presented for their visionary guidance and dedicated leadership in addressing the needs of homeless people throughout the region.


Shalom House, located in the Gibson Heights neighborhood, is one of the premier homeless services agencies serving single, homeless women ages 18 and older, many of whom are chronically homeless and suffering with persistent mental illness and chemical dependence.

They conduct a 24-hour Emergency Shelter Program, a 24-month Transitional Housing Program and a Permanent Supportive Housing Program.  By providing direct services to chronically homeless women with severe mental illness and chemical dependency, Shalom House is helping break many cycles that directly influence the entire community.
