ST. LOUIS PUBLIC LIBRARY AND PI PIZZERIA ANNOUNCE RESULTS FROM LIMITED EDITION "THE BOOKMARK" PIZZA PROMOTION IN CELEBRATION OF LIBRARY'S 150TH ANNIVERSARY

The St. Louis Public Library and Pi Pizzeria are proud to announce the results from the limited edition "The Bookmark" Pizza promotion that occurred between October 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015.

Pi Pizzeria Owner Chris Sommers and Executive Chef Cary McDowell presented a check to Waller McGuire, Executive Director of the St. Louis Public Library, on Tuesday, February 9, at Pi Pizzeria, Mercantile Exchange, 610 Washington Ave.,at 10 a.m.

"Pi is so honored to have been chosen to help celebrate the Library's 150thanniversary," McDowell said. "We received an incredible amount of positive feedback, as the public was excited to eat such an 'unconventional' pizza and also be a good steward for the cause. We are honored to donate 15 percent of the sales from 'The Bookmark' Pizzas to the Library, which totals $2,390.40."

McDowell added, "'The Bookmark' was created especially for the Library and dedicated to all the people in our lives who love books."

"The Bookmark" started with Pi's signature vegan thin crust, whole milk mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, and vegetables found fresh at local markets. Once baked, "The Bookmark" pizza was drizzled with Mike's Hot Honey,chili pepper-infused honey.

In 2015, as part of the Library's year-long celebration of its 150thanniversary as an institution, the Library partnered with three St. Louis companies that created and promoted a unique St. Louis Public Library-themed product for three months each. The Schlafly brewmasters created the SLPL Peated Scotch Ale in the spring. During the steamy summer months, St. Louis icon Ted Drewes created a cool, refreshing treat, the delicious SLPL Orange Freeze. To round out the year, Pi Pizzeria created a dish that gave new meaning to the Italian phrase, "Mangia bene." (Eat well.)
