St. Louis Development Corporation Names Daffney Moore as Chief of Staff

SLDC, the economic development arm for the City of St. Louis, announced today the appointment of Daffney Moore as Chief of Staff/Director of Equity & Inclusion. Moore will be the strategic advisor and counsel to the newly selected Executive Director, Neal Richardson.

In her role, Moore will oversee strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution, advancing the St. Louis Equitable Economic Development Strategy – the framework for equitable growth and prosperity for the City of St. Louis. She will serve as a subject matter expert, handling inquiries and leading development of Economic Justice Action Plan to address them, assisting with messaging, leading equity and inclusion efforts, as well as continuing her work in Opportunity Zone areas.

“Daffney's communities throughout her career, especially in the St. Louis region is extraordinary,” said Richardson. “Her diverse professional background in city government, economic development, and depth of trusted community relationships across the country will be a tremendous benefit to our team as we continue build a more equitable St. Louis.”

Moore comes from the ranks of SLDC. She worked as the Chief Opportunity Zone Officer where she worked to create an ecosystem to facilitate collaboration, increase economic and social impact investment, and strengthen the capacity of organizations to support growth and sustainability in St. Louis. She worked with the City of St. Louis on St. Louis: A New Urban Champion, Arlington Grove and North Sarah development projects, Rockefeller Foundation 100 Resilient Cities, and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard redevelopment, as well as the Lansdowne Initiative and Our Town grant in East St. Louis. Moore will bring that same passion and results-driven performance to her new role.

Moore is a PH.D. Candidate at Walden University in Public Policy with a concentration on Local Government Management for Sustainable Communities. She holds a Master of Arts from Jackson State University in Urban and Regional Planning and a Bachelor of Science from Murray State University in Organizational Communications. Moore works marginalized as an advocate for the region, resulting in multiple honors including Power 100 timeously Magazine, YWCA Women Leader of Distinction Award, Delux Dwight F. Davis Award Outstanding Planning Advocate, and speaking at White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council and Federal Agencies regarding Opportunity Zones. Moore is a native of East St. Louis, Illinois and serves as an Associate Fellow in Urban Governance for APA, Crisis Nursery Advisory Board, Murray State University Governor’s Board, and is President of the Black Alumni Network at Murray State University.
