Extreme Cold Keeps City of St. Louis Winter Shelter and Outreach Operations Running

ST. LOUIS – With extremely cold temperatures sticking around the St. Louis region, nonprofit agencies, volunteers, and several City of St. Louis departments together are launching Winter Operations again over the next two evenings. Increased outreach and additional shelter bed space will continue to be made available to accommodate unsheltered homeless men, women, and children.

Referrals for winter shelter should be made through the Housing Resource Center hotline at (314) 802-5444, through the United Way by dialing 211, or by following the protocol for corresponding days, listed below.

Winter Operations for Wednesday, January 20, and Thursday, January 21, 2016 Are As Follows:

Transportation to shelters is coordinated through The Bridge Outreach at 1610 Olive St., St. Louis, MO 63103. All homeless individuals and families should sign-up for shelter placement and transportation assistance at The Bridge prior to 5:30 p.m.; transportation leaves at 6 p.m.

12th and Park (men only)

Limited walk-up availability; transportation leaves from The Bridge at 6 p.m.

St. Louis Winter Outreach Shelters 
No walk-ups;transportation coordinated through The Bridge Outreach and leaves from The Bridge at 6 p.m.

Staff and volunteers from St. Louis Winter Outreach, St. Patrick Center, The Bridge Outreach, Gateway 180, Places for People, BJC Behavioral, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, City of St. Louis, and other partners are working together to decrease weather-related deaths and hospital visits among people who are homeless in the St. Louis community.
