The City of St. Louis Parks & Recreation Division has been supporting the efforts of Downtown Dutchtown (DT2) who is spearheading a new group, Allies of Marquette Park (AMP), with the focus on creating public-private partnerships for driving investment into Marquette Park.
On July 17th, AMP and DT2 held a Dive-In Movie fundraiser at the pool that abruptly turned into an indoor showing when a patented midwest severe weather system showed up out of nowhere and drenched St. Louis.
Despite the heavy storms, over 50 committed neighbors and allies showed up to stand in the rain for the Guerrilla Street Food Truck, drink Urban Chestnut’s best brews, and watch the classic 80's movie Splash inside the Marquette Rec Center Gym.
A fund-a-need video produced by Cross Grand, was shown and was well received and spurred over $2,000 in donations to the pool effort. The first $1,000 was matched 5 times over by private partners identified by DT2 for a total of over $7,000 which will go toward new pool furniture and amenities in summer 2020.
