Description:

The Sculptor had the block of Italian marble weighing 45 tons shipped to the site, and placed on the pedestal where it was carved in total. The artist used a study of twelve paintings by William Curtis entitled the "True Thomas Jefferson" to arrive at a clear indication of the President's true personal appearance and character.
