Planning and Programming Division
The Board of Public Service Planning and Programming Division addresses transportation issues and develops capital improvement projects on property owned and maintained by the City.
Planning and Programming Division functions as the initial point of contact for the Department to coordinate with Aldermen, Developers, Business Associations, Neighborhood Groups, Agencies, Technical Committees, and other City Departments to address transportation issues and develop capital improvement projects on property owned and maintained by the City.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Planning and Programming Division develops, prioritizes, and manages the City’s Strategic Short and Long Term Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) involving road and bridge projects. Staff prepares the City’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Project applications and other federal grant applications involving capital infrastructure improvements. The Division coordinates with City Departments and project stakeholders to develop and implement projects once approved for federal funding.
City's One-half Cent Sales Tax
The City’s One-half Cent Sales Tax Ward Capital Improvement Program is managed by the Planning and Programming Division. This Program involves direct communication with the City’s twenty-eight (28) Aldermen to develop project scopes, feasibility reports, cost estimates, and schedules for the implementation of various capital improvements including streets, sidewalks, alleys, and parks.
Bicycle and Pedestrian Issues
The Planning and Programming Division functions as a center of expertise for bicycle and pedestrian issues. Staff serves on multiple bicycle and pedestrian committees and coordinates with various organizations to promote and develop bicycle and pedestrian initiatives throughout the City.
