Traffic Management Enhancement Project Phase 7 - Broadway Signal Interconnection

The South Broadway Signal Interconnect is a federally supported transportation project in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Project Overview

South Broadway serves as a transportation corridor in eastern Saint Louis, Missouri. As a principal arterial road, South Broadway accommodates multiple modes of transportation which connects residents to essential goods, services, and destinations. This corridor links 4 wards and 9 neighborhoods, schools, firehouses, city parks such as Minniewood Park and Lyon Park, Saint Alexius Hospital, and national attractions, Anheuser Busch Brewery and Soulard Farmer’s Market. The project route intersects Interstate 55 twice with the northern end feeding directly into Interstate 44. The upgrade of this vital multimodal transport route will directly benefit the community and those that visit by increasing mobility, safety, and access to pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and transit users.

Project Location / Description

The 6.10 miles of the project corridor are on South Broadway from Marceau Street to the south and Carroll Street to the north. There is a significant need to maintain and improve traffic management and safety within the City’s complex transportation network, including the reduction of motorists travel times and vehicle emissions. This project enhances the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructure to better facilitate traffic incident and congestion management actions undertaken by the Real-Time Transportation Intelligence Center (TIC).
