West Florissant Avenue Traffic Safety Study
The West Florissant Avenue Traffic Safety Study is designed to improve traffic and pedestrian safety.
Project Overview
West Florissant Avenue is a key transportation corridor through north St. Louis. As a principal arterial road, it supports various modes of transportation that links residents, workers, and visitors to essential goods, services, and destinations. This project corridor spans four (4) wards and eight (8) neighborhoods and provides access to important places such as fire stations, retailers, places of worship, and city bus stops. It also connects to O'Fallon Park and Recreation Center, as well as the historic Bellefontaine and Calvary Cemeteries. Upgrading this corridor will help enhance the overall functionality of West Florissant Avenue by calming traffic, improving transit operations, and improving safety for all users.
Project Description
To address safety concerns along West Florissant Avenue, the city of St. Louis is preparing a grant application through the United States Department of Transportation Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. The proposed SS4A project limits are between Riverview Boulevard and Pope Avenue.
