ST. LOUIS PUBLIC LIBRARY'S 'VETERANS WRITING WORKSHOPS' RETURN FOR SUMMER SESSION

The St. Louis Public Library is proud to announce the return of its Veterans Writing Workshops this summer at Central Library, 1301 Olive Street. The workshops will be held every Saturday beginning June 6 and run through August 15 from 10:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. (except July 4) .The classes are FREE and open to veterans from all branches of service and eras, active duty personnel, and family members.

Taught by three professional writers (including two veterans and all holding a Masters of Fine Arts degree), these workshops provide the same high-level instruction as a college/university communications course. The difference is that at the Library the course is FREE.

The workshop is divided into three categories:

· The Basics:  "Getting It Down on Paper," "Making It Flow," and "Putting in the Details."

· The Details:  "Making a Transition," "Building Tension," and "Getting Them to Talk."

· The Cleanup:  "Smoothing the Edges," "Cleaning Up the Words," and "Fixing the Construction."

The workshops are FREE and registration is requested at the Events Calendar or by e-mailing smorris@slpl.org.  (NOTE: Please register for each session you plan to attend).  Seating is first-come, first-served.

Lunch provided by Urban Eats Café Central.

For more information, call 314.539.0336.

Support for the Veterans Writing Workshop is provided by the St. Louis Public Library Foundation, the Missouri Humanities Council, and the Warriors Arts Alliance.
