Open Enrollment for Health Insurance

Open enrollment this year is from May 2 to May 20.

As you know, the Healthcare Committee bid health insurance last year and selected Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to provide health insurance benefits to employees and dependents.  This resulted in an overall 2.7% decrease in employee premium with no benefit reductions.  This year, we could not provide another premium decrease, but were able to cap the increase at 4.8%.  This is due to City employees' conscientious use of generic drugs and the implementation of step therapy for both formulary and specialty drugs, and it is something we can pass along to you this year.

Open enrollment for health insurance will be held between May 2 and May 20 this year and enrollment information was delivered to all departments the week of April 25.

A High Option and a Low Option will continue to be offered and both options include out-of- network benefits. You do not need to complete an insurance form unless you are adding or canceling coverage for you or your dependents.

There will be one open enrollment meeting -- at Soldiers' Memorial on Tuesday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m.

All completed forms must be sent to the Department of Personnel, Employee Benefits Section, 1114 Market Street, Suite 900, St. Louis, MO  63101, no later than 5 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011.  All changes become effective June 19, 2011, and the medical rate change will be reflected on your paycheck dated July 8, 2011.

All employees enrolled in medical coverage will receive a new ID card from Anthem with a new Group Number, due to enhanced plan coding.  DO NOT use your old ID card after June 18, 2011.
