SLATE Text Alerts Connecting St. Louis Communities to Jobs, Education, Training Programs

SLATE has created a new digital messaging service providing information about current employment opportunities and training programs is now available to St. Louis job seekers. The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is expanding its use of technology to provide critical updates through Text Alerts, a cell phone mass notification system in place through SLATE’s offices at 1520 Market Street.

SLATE’s Executive Director, Dr. Alice Prince, announced the new service today, as part of her vision to deliver comprehensive and modern solutions to unify and empower individuals and communities. As St. Louisans seek ways to better their lives, the Text Alerts service will notify them of opportunities to participate in activities and workshops through SLATE, helping each person to discover their potential and shine a light on the path to prosperity.

“For me, ‘meeting our community where they are’ means providing them with timely information about the wide range of services available to them at SLATE. Our citizens deserve to know about all the opportunities they can access, and how our team can help them use these tools to their greatest advantage,” said Dr. Prince.

Interested job seekers can enroll to receive text updates to their phones about employment programs, jobs and training opportunities, events such as Workforce Wednesdays, and other relevant announcements and reminders, by texting “STLWORKS” to 779-48. They will be greeted with the following message: “Congrats! You’ve opted in to receive alerts from SLATE regarding education, employment, and training opportunities. You’re on the Road to Prosperity. Welcome!”  Questions submitted by job seekers to this number will be answered directly by Dr. Prince.
