The Great Firefighters' Weekend Committee is inviting everyone to attend the St. Louis Region 9-11 Memorial Service beginning at 8:46 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 11 at Art Hill in Forest Park. This is the exact time 10 years ago that Flight 11 crashed into Tower 1 at The World Trade Center in New York City.
The remembrance service will recognize the 3,000 people who tragically died 10 years ago. The program will include guest speakers from the military and fire service. Inspirational music will be performed by members of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
On display will be a 2-sided memorial wall which shares pictures along with life stories of all the firefighters and police who gave their lives that day. This memorial also includes pictures and ranks of military members who perished in the Pentagon and the names of all the civilians who died Sept. 11, 2001.
Three thousand three-foot flags will be strategically placed on Art Hill in Forest Park in remembrance for those 3,000 to which we will pay tribute. On Monday, Sept. 19, these remembrances flags will be able to be purchased for $20 each.
