CEMA officials meet with Office Captains to discuss emergency planning.

Gary Christmann, Commissioner of the City Emergency Management Agency (pictured above, standing), called a meeting last month of the Office Captains assigned in the City's 1520 Market building.  In the event of an emergency such as a fire, Office Captains have the responsibility to see that all employees and visitors to their agency exit the building in an orderly fashion and to report to City Marshals anyone who could not be accounted for once a head count was taken at the designated evacuation meeting place outside the building.

City employees meet at designated gathering area during evacuation drill on Dec. 2, 2010.

An evacuation drill for the 1520 Market building was held in December.  Pictured above are employees gathered at their designated meeting place waiting for the "all clear" to return to the building.

It is imperative that all employees are familiar with the evacuation plan for their office, know the primary and secondary exit routes, know basic procedures to follow for different types of incidents, and know where they are expected to assemble once outside the building.
