There's been non-stop activity behind the scenes to set up an aggressive construction program to restore Lambert-St. Louis International Airport after it was hit by a tornado more than two months ago.
The first phase of insurance, safety and engineering assessments are now winding down. Lambert is now working through architectural and engineering designs for the reconstruction of the damaged areas of the Airport. This work includes Concourse C, which remains closed. Terminal 1 also suffered extensive window damage on the evening of April 22.
The construction bidding process for the first major projects, including the installation of a new roof on Concourse C and installing new windows in Terminal 1 are wrapping up. Lambert will see the first major construction projects kicking off near the end of summer.
During the closure of Concourse C, airlines and concessions will continue to operate at their temporary locations on Concourses B and D. Concourse A and Terminal 2 operations were not impacted by the tornado.
