In Memoriam:  Deputy U.S. Marshal John Perry

johnperryUSMarshall400One year ago this Thursday, March 8, at about 6:51 a.m. U.S. Deputy Marshal John Perry was fatally shot by a man on whom he was trying to serve felony warrants at 3117 Osage.  Deputy Marshal Perry was a 10 year veteran.  Also shot was Deputy Marshal Theodore Abegg and a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer.  Two police officers and 8 deputy U.S. Marshals went to 3117 Osage to arrest the suspect on charges of assaulting by striking and choking a police officer on October 11, and possessing narcotics.  The suspect was also killed.

We have not forgotten, nor will we forget, your sacrifice for our protection.  We send our prayers of consolation to your family and to your colleagues.  We remember your selfless actions that resulted in the ultimate sacrifice of your life for the community, and we pray for the repose of your soul.  We trust that you will intercede in prayer on our behalf as well.
