Biography
Jami Cox Antwi is the Alderwoman of St. Louis’s 8th Ward, representing a vibrant and historic section of the city's neighborhoods and Downtown core. A fourth-generation St. Louisan, Jami's passion and commitment to the city are deeply personal. She is a proud graduate of Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School, where her leadership journey began, and a lifelong advocate for equity and access.
Jami brings experience in community development and affordable housing finance to her role in city government. She gained her professional foundation in community development banking & tax credit finance, helping direct critical investment into underserved neighborhoods.
She has served on several nonprofit boards, including Rise Community Development and Metropolitan Congregations United, where she worked to advance equitable development and community-driven change. Her early exposure to public service includes internships with Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (NY-D9) and the Congressional Black Caucus, experiences that deepened her understanding of advocacy and policy making at the national level.
Jami is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a sisterhood rooted in public service and social justice.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Public Policy from Vanderbilt University and was named a Schwarzman Scholar in 2018, completing her graduate studies in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
Her education, service, and career are all grounded in the same goal: building a more equitable and active St. Louis.
