The City of St. Louis Department of Health announced that it will be expanding its COVID-19 gift card incentive program. Starting February 9, $100 gift cards will be offered to all city residents who receive a COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster, at a Department of Health-sponsored event or from Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) partners. Previously only individuals receiving their first vaccine were eligible for a gift card. More than 5,368 gift cards have been distributed through the program to date.

The Department of Health is reminding everyone that COVID-19 vaccines including boosters continue to be our best tool to lowering the risk of getting and spreading SARS CoV-2 the virus that causes COVID-19 and preventing serious illness and death if infected with the virus. As of February 5, 2022, 69.2 % of City of St. Louis residents eligible for the vaccine have initiated vaccinations, 60.5 % were fully vaccinated and 24.2 % had received a booster.

COVID 19 Vaccine Gift Card Expansion

“Vaccination, including boosters, is essential to reduce the chance of serious illness and hospitalization due to COVID-19, and this expansion is another way to encourage residents to protect their families and communities,” says Justen Hauser, Bureau Chief for Environmental Health for the City of St. Louis. “We are using the tools at our disposal to keep lifting our vaccination rate.”

The Department of Health continues to warn that at this time in the pandemic other public health mitigation strategies including, testing, properly wearing masks when around those not in your household, social distancing, and practicing good hand hygiene are essential to protecting the health of our community.
