Instructions to receive help from the HELP-STL/Right to Counsel program

Overview

If you are facing eviction, you can request help from the Housing Eviction Law Program. The help you may receive includes: 

  • Counsel and advice
  • Assistance through MOTenantHelp.org
  • Pre-litigation and litigation support
  • Referrals and resources
  • Document and form filing
  • Court representation
  • Requests for new trials, if needed

The City of St. Louis works with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM) to implement the project and offer free legal services.

Preparation

  • To be eligible for the program, you need to be a renter living in the City of St. Louis. Validate your address.
  • Information to have with you when you call:
    • If you have received an eviction notice from your landlord, have that eviction notice information with you.
    • If you have been summoned to appear on the eviction court docket, have that information with you.
