Nature of Work
This is a working foreman position in the City of St. Louis Water Division. The Water Maintenance Foreman may work in the Water Division's Distribution Section or the Construction and Maintenance Section. Duties include: supervising one large or several small crews engaged in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, valves and fittings, fire hydrants, sewer and chemical lines; supervising the cleaning and maintenance of a system of water settling basins; and performing a variety of general construction and grounds maintenance related tasks.
Two years of recent full-time paid experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, valves and fittings, fire hydrants, sewer and chemical lines; cleaning and maintenance of water settling basins; and performing a variety of grounds maintenance activities. Must have skill in estimating time and material needed for completing projects, reading and interpreting blue prints and sketches pertaining to water systems and general construction, and preparing written reports of work completed. OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
License: Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver=s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present license at the time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. At the time of the Oral Interview, applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.
To be eligible for veteran preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD214 Certificate of Release or discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, experience and training as listed on the Employment Application. Complete the Employment History and Educational/Training History sections of the Employment Application even if you submit a resume. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. When completing the Employment History section of the application, include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
