Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for repairing and maintaining water processing and distribution equipment and performing lead worker duties such as more difficult water plant maintenance assignments. Duties include: installing, overhauling, and maintaining a variety of large and heavy machinery such as high volume pumps, motors, intake screens, sluice gates, valves, boilers, cooling towers and air compressors.

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; plus two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of water processing and distribution equipment. OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing the application and be able to present it at the time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license must present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
