Nature of Work
Incumbent in this position is responsible for directing the overall operations of the St. Louis Lambert International Airport Police Unit to ensure the enforcement of federal/state laws and St. Louis County ordinances.

A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field; plus five years of command experience at the rank of Airport Police Lieutenant or higher. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certification: Must be certified or eligible for certification as a Police Officer by the State of Missouri.
Deputization: Must be deputized or eligible for deputization as a Police Officer by St. Louis County, Missouri.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.
Position requires shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.
MEDICAL: The medical exam will include a drug/alcohol screen. Incumbent is also subject to random Drug Screens and Alcohol Tests as a condition of employment.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
