Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position supervise the work activities of Airport Police Sergeants, Airport Police Officers and clerical support staff at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.  Duties include supervising the operations of the Airport Police Unit, analyzing information and recommending changes in working conditions, methods, or procedures. Work involves shift, weekend and holiday assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; plus two years of experience as an Airport Police Sergeant by January 24, 2022.

Certification: Must be certified as a Police Officer by the State of Missouri.

Deputization: Must be deputized as a Police Officer by St. Louis County, Missouri.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must be able to present license upon request. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  An Associate’s degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a closely related field.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the employee must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request.  The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.

Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.  A ten-year character investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions with the Airport Authority.
