Project Overview
This project involves infrastructure and safety improvements along 2.4 miles of the River Des Peres Boulevard corridor from Gravois Avenue to Lansdowne Avenue.
Improvements include:
- Widening and resurfacing of the roadway
- Raised concrete median
- New traffic signal at Loughborough Avenue
- Transit stop improvements including enhanced pedestrian connections, acceleration and deceleration lanes at the Chippewa Street interchange
- Dedicated left-turn lanes at intersections, guard rail, curve warning signage, high-friction pavement surfaces, street lighting, and trees.
Background
2nd Ward Alderman Oldenburg initiated a traffic study that was the basis of a $17.2 M Federally Funded Surface Transportation Block Grant (STP-S).
