SLATE acknowledges and embraces the rich cultural diversity of the City of St. Louis, and welcomes the opportunity to serve customers of all backgrounds. To better assist Spanish-speaking individuals looking for a job or a career change, this page briefly summarizes the many employment services we provide at no charge. We invite interested individuals to visit our Center and talk to our professional staff to learn more about the specific ways they can assist job seekers of all kinds.

SLATE is the City of St. Louis government department offering innovative workforce solutions for the community and the region. SLATE connects employers to the largest pool of talent in the area and provides worker training and hiring incentives. SLATE prepares jobseekers and those seeking to change careers to meet the present and future needs of local businesses.

SLATE offers a variety of employment and training-related services to St. Louis residents at no cost. 

Services include:

  • Job leads, placement services, referrals, resume writing and interview skills assistance, career counseling, training opportunities, information on filing unemployment, veterans programs, youth programs and information on community resources and partner agencies.
  • An online job bank at www.Jobs.Mo.Gov.
  • Hiring events such as in-house recruiting events, job fairs and information sessions.
  • Training for careers in high demand industries.
  • Computer Lab that provides no-cost internet access, basic Microsoft Office software, an online resume building tool, typing skill tests, career assessment software, labor market information on growing industries, self-paced tutorials and training topics such as Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Re-employment services for Missouri Work Assistance (MWA) recipients.
  • Adult Education &Literacy/ GED classes to obtain a high school diploma.

What to Expect on your first visit:

  • You will be asked to register with SLATE Missouri Career Centers' network.
  • To register, bring a document showing your date of birth (any one of the documents below is required):
    • Driver's License or State I.D.
    • Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate or Hospital Record of Birth.
    • U.S. Passport.

Location: 

1520 Market Street, St. Louis, MO 63103.

Hours of Operation: 

Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the exception of opening at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays.

Suggested Parking: 

Kiel Center Garage, situated immediately behind our building, at the corner of Clark &16th. Parking fees are $1 per hour.

SLATE strives to serve every person to the best of our ability. We make every reasonable effort to assist any non-native English speaker at our Center. While we do not have professional translators among our staff, we do have an agreement with the International Institute to help us interpret and serve persons of various backgrounds. If you let someone at our Center know you are a Spanish speaker, we will do our best to provide a qualified interpreter.
