5 Good Reasons to Quit
Bee-Fit Smoking Cessation classes begin Aug. 14
This article is 12 years old. It was published on August 1, 2013.

Are you still smoking? If you are, take a moment to think about this habit. You probably already know that smoking is terrible for your health and that smoking is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Before you light up your next cigarette, consider the following five good reasons why you should stop smoking:
5. Your family. Smoking reduces your life expectancy. Consider the impact of your smoking on those who love you and depend on you.
4. Your friends. Second-hand smoke can harm other innocent people (non-smokers). Approximately two percent of lung cancer deaths each year are caused by passive smoking.
3. Your co-workers. Quitting smoking is a great achievement and sets a good example for others who want to kick the habit.
2. Your hobbies. When you quit smoking, you will have more energy to pursue the physical activities you enjoy.
1. YOU! Do it for yourself. If you don't have your health, nothing else matters.
The Bee-Fit Smoking Cessation eight-week session will be held on Wednesdays from Aug. 14 - October 2, 1-2 p.m., in 1520 Market 4051 conference room. Curriculum will be provided and facilitated by the American Lung Association. Contact Ryan Lord at (314) 622-4849 for more information.
