St. Louis Public Library receives 2013 Library Building Award

The St. Louis Public Library announced last month that Central Library is one of six recipients to receive the prestigious national Library Building Award presented by the American Institute of Architects and the American Library Association. The award is presented every two years to honor excellence in the architectural design and planning of libraries. The award is given jointly by the two organizations to emphasize the importance of architectural design and planning in order to meet the needs of both the public and library staff.
The lead design firm on the Central Library project was Cannon Design, and hundreds of skilled workers from BSI Constructors brought that design to fruition. Representatives from the Library and Cannon Design will accept the award at a presentation ceremony and reception at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago in July.
