The St. Louis Public Library's popular NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series is proud to host Marquise Knox for the June concert. The June 16 show begins at 7 p.m. on the steps of Central Library, 1301 Olive Street*, kicking off the LIVE ON OLIVE concerts. Special guest The Dusty Brothers will perform at 6 p.m.
Born in St. Louis,Marquise Knox hails from a musical family entrenched in the Blues. He learned how to play guitar from his grandmother. He spent his early teenage years mentoring under the late great Blues legend, N.E.A., a Heritage Fellowship recipient and Grammy-Award winner Henry James Townsend.
Knox's talent has earned him performing rights with some of America's most notable performers such as blues legends B.B. King, Pinetop Perkins and David "Honeyboy" Edwards. He has also performed at dozens of festivals, most notably "Bluesmasters at The Crossroads," has toured Germany and played the Baden Blues Festival in Switzerland.
His debut album MANCHILD was nominated for a Blues Music Award for Best New Artist Debut. Recently, his third album HERE I AM was released. With special guest Wayne Sharp of Michael Burks' band sitting in on B-3 and piano, the record features nine original songs and three reverent covers of Knox's favorite Muddy Waters tunes.
The concert is open to all-ages and is part of the ninth season of the NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series, which presents exceptional FREE LIVE music every third Thursday. LIVE ON OLIVE runs through September. Upcoming performers include Skeet Rogers & the Inner City Blues Band, Jeremiah Johnson Band and the Steve Pecaro Band.
