Colleagues, friends and family of Thomas P. Gerrein Sr. gathered together one day last month to congratulate Tommy on his retirement from the City of St. Louis. Tommy wore many hats and performed various jobs during his 26+ years at the Street Department. Twenty of those years were spent as the department's liaison to the Board of Aldermen. So it was rather appropriate that former Alderman Stephen Gregali, now on Mayor Francis G. Slay's staff, presented a Mayoral proclamation to Tommy on Mayor Slay's behalf. Saturday, April 2, 2011, was celebrated as “Thomas P. Gerrein Sr.” Day in the City of St Louis.

The recognition did not end there. The Missouri House of Representatives presented Tommy with a Resolution also.
Tommy plans to enjoy his retirement with his wife Eleanora and their grandchildren.
The Street Department thanks everyone who came out to celebrate the day with Tommy and to wish him a fond farewell.
Congratulations, Tommy, on your retirement!
