Apply for Property Tax Relief for Tornado Damaged Property

If your property has been damaged or destroyed, and made "unoccupied and uninhabitable" by a natural disaster, you can apply to have your property tax prorated.

Overview

On May 30, 2025, the Board of Aldermen passed a law that allows the Assessor's office to prorate the assessments for property that has been made "unoccupied and uninhabitable" by a natural disaster.

This law, Ordinance 72001, adopts Ch. 137.082 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, commonly referred to as the Occupancy Law.
