Summary
The Community Development Administration (CDA) is seeking community-led solutions to reduce and prevent vacancy and blight in St. Louis through the Vacant Building Initiative Fund Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA). Nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations and community development corporations (CDCs) are invited to propose actionable approaches that respond to vacancy in their communities.

The funding opportunity builds on the City’s Vacancy Strategy Initiative, which examined the scale, causes and costs of vacancy in St. Louis. That work found that nearly 90% of vacant buildings are privately owned, demonstrating the need for solutions that reach beyond City-owned property and address privately owned vacant and problem properties.

Up to $300,000 is available through the competitive NOFA. CDA is intentionally leaving the opportunity broad to encourage organizations to bring forward strong ideas, including advocacy and other neighborhood-based approaches that can reduce existing vacancy or prevent future vacancy and blight.
