ST. LOUIS – Winter shelter and outreach operations will be in effect for the City of St. Louis starting Thursday, January 11th through Tuesday, January 16th.
Freezing temperatures with a mixture of ice and snow are predicted in the forecast. If the inclement weather persists, winter shelter and operations will be extended.
Nonprofits, faith communities, volunteer groups and various departments within the City of St. Louis are coordinating efforts to ensure individuals and families in need of shelter have access.
Exposure to cold can cause frostbite or hypothermia and become life threatening. A wind chill of -20° F with light winds will cause frostbite in just 30 minutes. Hyperthermia is a condition brought on when the body temperature drops to less than 95°F, and it can kill. If you see an individual who is struggling with the cold temperatures, please call 911 to receive immediate medical attention.
