Built in 1937 at the corner of Glasgow and Gamble in Norman Seay Park,  the Gamble Recreation Center features a gymnasium, boxing room as well as s multipurpose room.

Programs

COCA - Hip Hop Ages 9 to 18 | females and males | Wed

The City of St. Louis Recreation in partnership with the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) is pleased to offer...Hip Hop Dance. Students will learn high energy hip-hop in choreography that builds each week. They will learn elements such as break-dancing, pop locking an freestyle; transitions; levels and lines. This class is led by Ms. Cynthia Anderson. Cynthia Anderson holds a BFA in Dance from CalArts and is director of Cynn Marie Productions in St. Louis. She studied Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary and developed an eye-catching, unique style of movement. Cynn has worked with numerous choreographers in both the industry and concert work such as; Alicia Graf-Mack, Antonio Douthit, Camille A. Brown, Darrell Grand-Moultrie, Christopher Page, Anthony ?Redd? Williams, to name just a few. Before Cynn?s teaching career, she strived with Deep Blue Dance company as a dancer, Iris Dance Company as a dancer, B-Dunn Movement as a dancer and choreographer assistant and The Video Experience as a dancer and director's assistant. Gamble Crafters Ages 6 and up | females and males | Tue, Thu

Hands on instruction on how to create one of a kind items using various materials including yarn, glass, and wood. Subjects/crafts learned include hand embroidery, crocheting, machine sewing, and wood burning, to name a few. Each project's class length will be based on project difficulty and will run from 2 weeks up to 3 months. At the end of each session, all items made will belong to the participants who will have the chance to sell their items at local art fairs/bazaars, and they will keep their profits. The overall goal of this program is to plant the "seed" of Entrepreneurship among our inner city youth/young adults!
