Built in 1965, Wohl Recreation Center is located at the corner of North Kingshighway and Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., in Sherman Park. The facility as a gym, a large indoor pool, several multipurpose rooms, and a boxing room.  Sherman Park features a baseball field as well as a large outdoor football/soccer field.

Bricks 4 Kidz Early Engineers (Session 2) Ages 6 to 10 | females and males | Sat

The City of St. Louis Recreation Department in partnership with Bricks 4 Kidz is pleased to offer their Early Engineers program. Early Engineers is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles, and other structures out of technic LEGO bricks, motors, and gears. Students follow a proprietary Bricks 4 Kidz plan to build a moving model. While exploring principles of engineering, physics, life sciences, and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Students build a new project each week, and each class begins with a teacher-led discussion related to the day?s model and the science behind it. We have models of varying degrees of difficulty to accommodate the age range of the class, ages 6-10. Bricks 4 Kidz is St Louis is owned by Easy Tech LLC, an S corporation owned solely by Nancy Portscheller, a woman who grew up and currently resides in St Louis. Ms Portscheller has a BS ? Aerospace Engineering from Missouri S&T and an MBA from Maryville University. Her goal is to provide fun Science Technology Engineering and Math programs to young children. Most Bricks 4 Kidz are teachers in school districts such as Brentwood, Kirkwood, Rockwood, and others. Other employees are college students that are working on degrees that work with children. Three employees are female engineers. All employees receive background checks and training.

COCA - Theater Improvisation Ages 9 to 18 | females and males | Tue

The City of St. Louis Recreation in partnership with the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) is pleased to offer...Improvisation. Create stories, make up characters, think fast on your feet...these are the tools of improvisation. In this class students will have a blast while learning the building blocks of theatre. Through games and activities, students will learn about making theatre with no script. It?s all about imagination and team work! This class is led by Ms. Donna Patton. Donna has acted professionally in New York, Chicago and Louisville and is an experienced storyteller and teacher of children. She has taught drama for COCA for 15 years and worked with children who are atypical learners in a variety of settings. Donna held an acting apprenticeship at Actor?s Theatre of Louisville and attended the Summer Training Congress of American Conservatory Theatre. She has taught playwriting for the St. Louis Repertory Theatre?s WiseWrite program. She also works as a voice over artist, so you may hear her on the radio. Donna received her BA in Theatre from the University of Dallas and her MA in Teaching and Multidisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Aesthetic Education from Webster University.

Nu-Art Series - Introduction to Orchestra Ages 7 to 21 | females and males | Mon

The "Introduction to Orchestra" led by Nu-Art Series Program strives to educate and inspire a life of excellence through the exposure of youth to instrumental music. This program provides an introductory orchestral experience for potential young musicians. Instruction will occur in the family of instruments including strings, brass, and percussion. The outstanding musical experience is open to students elementary school through college.
