Police Retiree Benefits
Information for eligible police retirees to enroll in the Police Retiree Medical plan (under 65), the Police Medicare Supplement Plan (65 and over), and Life Insurance.
Overview
For Eligible Retirees Pre-65
Eligible Retirees can enroll under the Police Retiree Medical Plans. Retiree coverage in the Base Plan is City provided at no premium cost to the retiree. Retirees electing a different plan option or electing to enroll eligible dependents in the plans, will have a monthly premium cost to pay.
Eligible dependents of the retiree must be documented with the City Employee Benefits Section prior to enrollment being requested.
Commissioned retirees can opt to have any applicable monthly premium cost deducted from their monthly pension payment.
Civilian retirees can opt to have any applicable monthly premium cost directly billed through a third-party vendor.
For Retirees 65 and Over
Police Retirees who are 65 years or age or over 65 years old, who are eligible to enroll in Medicare Parts A & B, must enroll in Medicare. Once enrolled in Part B, the retiree is eligible to be covered under the Police Medicare Supplement Plan. This Supplement Plans provides Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, Vision and Hearing coverage.
The current healthcare and life insurance plan eligibility for Police Division retirees is based on Commissioned and Civilian statuses for retirees hired prior September 1, 2013.
