SLATE Co-sponsors Annual Financial Planning Day

The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE), Mayor Francis G. Slay, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors along with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards, the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Greater St. Louis, and the Foundation for Financial Planning, announce October 19, 2013 - a Financial Planning Day in St. Louis. Financial Planning Day is a nationwide campaign designed to involve city governments and thousands of financial planners to provide no-cost financial education and programs to communities throughout the U.S.

Through the initiative, on October 19, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., a Financial Education Workshop will be conducted at the St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, Student Center Building, Tower E, 5600 Oakland Ave., St. Louis. The workshop is designed to help all St. Louis residents receive sound financial advice regardless of age, job status or income. Mayor Slay states that, “Everyone stands to benefit from Financial Planning Day. Skilled professionals will be offering expert advice at no cost on this ever-changing and complicated area.” Mayor Slay will give the welcoming address at 9:00 a.m.

Experienced CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERSTM from FPA, volunteering their services free of charge, will offer individuals one-on-one financial planning advice and money saving tips on surviving a job loss, saving for college, saving for retirement, life insurance coverage, budgeting and more.
