ST. LOUIS, October 27, 2017 – Beginning November 9, the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is bringing news job seekers can use to Facebook with a live weekly webcast called “Workforce STL” from 6 - 6:30 pm each Thursday at SLATE’s offices on the third floor of 1520 Market Street in downtown St. Louis.

This talk show-style series features local employers who recruit through same-day interview opportunities on Wednesdays and Thursdays at SLATE, highlights new programs and success stories of SLATE clients who have found employment, and offers motivation to viewers from host Dr. Alice M. Prince, the workforce agency’s Executive Director. All webcasts will be uploaded to SoundCloud as podcasts and made available to the public each week on the following Mondays.

“Each day, my team works to open doors of opportunity for job seekers of all ages and abilities in St. Louis,” said Dr. Prince. “The Workforce STL webcast lets St. Louisans see for themselves what types of jobs employers are looking to fill, and helps us to share the excitement of achievement through the testimonials of newly-employed SLATE clients.”

Every Thursday, the Workforce STL webcast invites the public to participate as members of the studio audience, for an up close and personal look at the programs, workshops, training, and supports offered by SLATE. From 6:30 - 7pm on Thursdays, SLATE Job Developers will be available to set appointments for viewers who are motivated to participate in the wide variety of job placement programming the agency offers.

By featuring local community employment partners through this digital outreach program, St. Louisans looking for employment can see the people behind the companies and gain a better understanding of the many positions available, as well as the services offered by SLATE which help them prepare to present themselves as valuable additions to employers’ teams.

“First-time visitors who come through our doors are often nervous, and don’t know what to expect,” said Dr. Prince. “We want to assure potential clients that they are entering a judgement-free zone, and help them create an individual roadmap to success.”

Employers interested in appearing on Workforce STL may call Marilyn Hughes at 314-657-3575 to schedule a booking. Those interested in joining the studio audience should arrive at SLATE at 5:45 pm on Thursdays, and ask our friendly front desk staff to join the webcast viewing.
