The City Will Do the Big Stuff

Trash Task Force

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Trash Task Force is targeting illegal dumping in alleys and lots in the City of St. Louis. They are deploying 100 infrared cameras in locations where the most dumping occurs. Officers are using the footage from these cameras to track down offenders and enforce dumping laws. 

Upgrading Our Trash Truck Fleet

We are actively working to upgrade our trash truck fleet. The $3 per month increase for trash collection, approved July 2017, is being used to purchase new trucks at a cost of $250,000 each. Using these funds, we anticipate that we will be able to resolve our fleet problems over the next three years. We have already begun receiving new trucks now; nine trucks have been delivered and another nine trucks are being built for delivery in the summer of 2018.

Clean Up St. Louis Block Blitz

A team of city departments and agencies including the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, St. Louis Fire Department, Neighborhood Improvement Specialists and various City Operations Departments will be conducting "Block Blitzes" to clean up the most challenged blocks across the city. The team will work to trim trees that are blocking street lamps, tow derelict cars, and remove debris and bulk items from alleys. The Fire Department will install smoke detectors in any house that needs one. Information about services from the City of St. Louis Department of Health, SLATE - St. Louis's Jobs Center, and other city departments will also be made available to residents. 

Clean Up St. Louis Park Fairs

City departments, SLATE, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the St. Louis Fire Department will be hosting Clean Up St. Louis resource fairs in parks across the city throughout the summer of 2018.
