Carolyn Kargacin Receives 40-year Service Pin

Longtime City employee has worked in the Board of Public Service and the Department of Public Utilities

During a brief ceremony at City Hall last month Mayor Lyda Krewson presented Carolyn Kargacin with a 40-year service pin.

Carolyn started her career with the City in 1979 in the Department of Public Utilities. She was a Secretary I and worked for the Administration and Engineering Sections. Besides correspondence typing, she billed for damages to street lights.

In 1986, she promoted to the Board of Public Service as a Secretary II in the Construction Section. As a Construction Secretary, she saw new construction and renovations to the City of St. Louis. She was also a Field Secretary for the larger construction projects, for example the Convention Center, Jail at MSI, Civil Courts Renovations, Eads Bridge Renovations and the Justice Center. Life in the construction trailer had its moments! She was proud to be part of the changes to the City!

In 2000, she promoted back to the Department of Public Utilities as the Director's Secretary. She currently works for Director Curt Skouby and his two Assistants.
