Since 1861, the primary function of the Board has been to oversee the effective operations of the Department. The five-member board included four civilians who were appointed by the Governor of Missouri and the Mayor of St. Louis who served as an ex-officio member. Present and past Board members were honored at the meeting for their dedicated service to the Department and the people of St. Louis.
