According to the American Heart Association, Cardiovascular disease in the U.S. kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds. With education and lifestyle changes, 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented. The Go Red For Women campaign advocates for more research and faster action for women's heart health. By wearing red on National Wear Red Day you will help increase women's awareness and critical research to discover scientific knowledge about cardiovascular health.

Another way you can lead by example in this effort is to make the time to "know your numbers." Five numbers that all women should know in order to take care of their heart health are: Total Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). Knowing these five numbers could safe your life.
